Module Measurement

The fundamental module interface specification is in computer code vtrack.el. See Node:(vtrack)Module_Specification, and Node:(vtrack)Measured_Module_Definition. The hardware described here supports measurement of existing modules; the measurements can be entered into the vtrack code in a way that enables rendering in the CAD application used for track design.

Measurement Bars
Go Back to the Top

The bars are attached to the module using the interface plate offset centre holes and clamping screws. The bars are labelled Base and Auxilliary, which would be much better as Initial and Final since the base bar normally is attached to the initial end of the module being measured. The ends are labelled S-T and R-Q, which corresponds to the module specification in the computer code file, vtrack.el. The dimensions S-R, S-Q, T-Q, and T-R should be measured to the nearest 1/64 inch for ease of use, and adequate accuracy; the code provides for this input style. An unfortunate cause of confusion is that measurement is done with the module upside down.
