The DGRS steamup was held at the Colorado Railroad Museum over the weekend of 18-19 August
2018. There was a little rain on both days, but overall it was a good time. DASSS members were
conspicuous by their absence; it seems that most people were busy elsewhere. The portable
railway sported its inner track steamup siding for the first time.

The portable railway erected and ready for use. The gallon water [ex milk] bottles and white
straps are to help with problems with any wind.

The first train of the day on the outer track, and the first small spectator (with dad). A
Fairymead is being prepared on the new inner track, as yet incomplete, steamup siding.
|
This is the DGRS garden railway; the portable railway was to the side of the garden. Normally,
what is shown is electrically powered; but this weekend the steamers were allowed to take over.
|
The museum was hauling a train and passengers with the K-37 all day.
|
DGRS has its own steam tracks; and this short movie, taken by Etzel Willhoit, shows some of the
DGRS activity, mostly not on the DASSS portable railway. Click on the image.

A good day at the museum.

Here are a couple of shots showing the different gauges available on the portable railway. The
H0 and H0n3 are not really usable, if only because of the, relatively huge, expansion gaps in
the rails; but the other three gauges are alive and well. The left images shows G3 in use on
the outer track, and G1 and H0n3 on the inner track. The right image shows G1 and H0 on the
outer track, and G0 and H0n3 on the inner track.
