Portable Railway Documentation

This is the centralized site for construction and operation procedure manuals for the portable railway. Another site describes construction and operation from a different perspective.

There are many omissions from this documentation tree and from the descriptions, which may be a frustration for the reader. Documentation never was an objective of the portable railway project. What is here is the result of a realization that documentation could be useful if ever further railway extension is undertaken.

These are the documentation items on this site. Currently this is simply a list of jigs and fixtures that have been used in the construction of the railway, and which still exist. All of these tools are of amateur quality in construction and can be improved. However, these tools have been good enough to produce the railway that exists; and they are available for any future production.
  • Module Interface
Tools for producing the standard aluminium interface angles used at each end of a module which conform to the fundamental interface specification, found here .
  • Module Measurement
Existing module hardware can be measured to yield the key theoretical specification used in railway design computer code. The hardware described here supports this measurement.
  • Module Components
Tooling for module production and measurement.
  • Track Components
    Tooling for track production.
  • Miscellaneous Tools
Purchased tools used for railway production.
  • Miscellaneous Parts
    Available parts.
